At many physie competitions there will be a professional photographer taking both portrait photos and action shots of competitors. These photos are then available for purchase online at a later date. Sometimes they can be viewed and ordered at the event.
1. An Attractive Pose
When you pose for a photograph you want to consider the most flattering angle to show off your figure, your leotard and your smile. It is important, when posing in a leotard consider which parts of the body are revealed and which parts of the body are concealed.
Try turning your body on the incline when posing to create an image that is truly picture perfect!
2. Consider Your Ability
If you are still working on your splits, arabesque or scorpion wait until you are able to execute these poses well before using them for portrait photographs. A simple pose done well will always look better than a difficult pose or position that you are still improving. Think about using a pose from this years syllabus that would look great in a photo!3. Don’t Look Up!
I know, I know! Physie girls are used to hearing “Chin up!” However, when it comes to portrait photos, we want to see your face and not underneath your chin. Point the tip of your nose straight to the camera lens for a great shot!
4. Check! Check! Check!
Be sure fishnets are on your feet correctly for photos. Check!
Apply lipstick and ensure it isn’t on your teeth. Check!
Have your portrait photo taken before performing to avoid a sweaty and shiny image. Check!
Of course, this is with the exception of photos after prizes have been awarded.
5. Have Fun!
You have put the work in to be at this event so getting together with your friends for a few fun portrait photos is a great idea! Jump, smile, pull a funny face…have fun!
6. Colour Co-ordinate
In group portrait photos, balance leotard colours where there are more than 2 of you. Two girls in the same coloured leotard can be placed on the outside of the group or alternated to create balance in the image.
